Small closet + wallpaper = transformation

I absolutely love wallcoverings and think that they are especially fab in small areas or "lifeless spaces." This weekend (during Superbowl) I transformed my son's small closet from drab to well, a tad more masculine and stylish. It's always neatly organized (well, at least while he's two and I still have control over it) but it certainly needed a little attention.

BEFORE
AFTER
I'm a firm believer in designing small spaces and not keeping them white. Small is small...white paint is not tricking me into thinking something is larger, whereas a well designed or styled space is what I remember...not the lack of square footage. What do you do with small spaces to give them style?

  2. You aren't kidding, that IS quite a transforamtion..love the choice of the navy, so rich and masculine. Great reminder that even closets can get a transformation with wallpaper and at least when the closet door is opened, it looks beautiful. Nice work!

  3. Each time you wallpaper a closet, it makes me hate the insides of our plain ugly closets that much more!:) Another amazing job Ms. Hamptontoes!

  4. You really are the master with wallpaper. Another great transformation. It always suprises me how people often forget the closet when they paint or decorate a room. I hate a stark white closet!

  5. If I ever finish decorating the large spaces in my home I'd love to tackle the small spaces. It's finishing touches like this that I always notice in showhouses.

  9. Love the closet. I've never gotten around to dressing my own. I'd like to tackle the coat closet first because guests are more likely to see it.

  26. I have a William IV chifferobe with its original chintz lining, a small scale, stylized floral print. Either a fabric or paper lining gives a finished appearance.

  29. There is just something so charming about opening a closet door to a lovely splash of color or gorgeous pattern of wallpaper. It's like a wonderful little secret to those who share the closet. Fabulous redo! At some point I will check off paint closet bright green, but I have so many projects and so little time.

  31. Do not know how you find time to work on something like this, and I love it. Even if the doors are open, and they are open a lot with small children, the closet is interesting & bright. It's all in the details, isn't it?
