Ready, set, go

Having competed in triathlons and running races (prior to having my children) kept my workouts very honest. Basically, for the past four years the only running I've been doing has been to the bathroom!! I've been itching to get back into triathlons and running. So, last night I signed up for six running races over the next several months. How I'm going to squeeze training into my already tight schedule is yet unknown, but I can guarantee you I'll find a way. These sneakers will be my footwear of choice for months to come (and flip-flops.)
Have you done tri's? Running races? Would love to hear your stories...do share! Also, blogging friends, I'm hoping you'll keep me motivated! Have a great weekend!

  1. I hear great things from Summer is a verb, she is an avid runner and swears by some thing called PS90, which my son says is all about "Muscle confusion" - I need to run or just confuse my muscles with some sort of exercise. Yawn,

  2. Wow, I am so impressed.
I run at the gym. I run for 20 min at a time and its really hard for me. Still, I am the most fit i've ever been. I've never been as active as I am now and so I am really proud of myself. I am the type of girl who always used to pretend she was sick on running day. Now I do it on my own... its shocking.
Good luck with your running. I hope you tell us how it goes for you. Also, would love some running tips :D.

  4. I wish I could say that I have done any sort of running lately! My running days are so far in the past it's scary! With the weather getting nicer, I keep thinking about getting motivated and I feel like a morning run could be just the thing I need. The hardest part is starting! I'm impressed! Good luck and have fun and WRITE ABOUT IT! Marija

  6. I used to run lots of races in my early twenties. Now, mainly because of time constraints, I just do a couple miles 4 or 5 times a week and don't do any racing. But sometimes I want to get back into it, so maybe you'll inspire me! Oh, and of course all of your blog friends will cheer you on!!

  7. Darling Lisa: How wonderful that you have decided to run again. I did two marathons in the past (years ago). It was difficult at first to go out and run understanding the task ahead. I had to push myself. One of my friends asked me to call her every time I went out and run. She kept me going. Let us know how it goes for you. Way to go, girl!

  11. PVE,
I have not heard of PS90, going to look into after blogging...thanks for the tip.

    Heavenly Housewife,
My tip for running is to start slowing, build conditioning and endurance and then never stop running. It is so hard getting started again - I'm sucking air on my runs, but I'm doing them anyway.

    Cashon & Co.,
Thanks for your comments and for the award! I did not look at the computer on Thursday so I did not see it until today...I'm thrilled!

Marija, Kathysue, Little Blue Deer, Lisa Golighty and Beatriz,
    Thanks for your words!

    CasaBella,
Wow...two marathons...that's awesome! I have done a lot of races, but not a marathon yet. The NYC marathon is on my list of things to do in life...hoping I get in with the lottery this year.

    The Zhush,
Is your husband doing Lake Placid?

  17. Very impressive! I used to run 6 miles a day - of course, that was back in law school, pre-work, pre-husband, pre-baby....I so wish I could get back into it again! Good luck, I'm sure you will do great.

  18. Proud of you but not surprised. You are a dedicated and driven woman, I've no doubt that you will be running that marathon before long. We dashed off the phone quickly last week when you told me about your new running goals, so I didn't get a chance to tell you that I've started up again, too. I'm taking it easy because of my bum ankles (as you know). But I have a spankin' new set of shoes as well and Carson, my running buddy, who is ready when I am!

  21. So motivating to hear that you just snap to it and are going to do this! Wish you great runs! I am going to do some serious excercising the nex 3-4 months, and hopefully get into a great routine I can continue to doing;) Best of luck and I belive you can do it!

  22. Good for you! I've done two marathons, one tri and a couple of duathlons. However, since my son I haven't done much. I'm actually starting yoga & pilates this summer. Am going to take it easy, but I can't wait to get back into doing triathlons. Good luck w/all - I'm sure once you get out there, it'll be like you never left!
