Bringing the outside inside

In the spring I did a post about bringing the outside inside. At the time, my forsythias were in bloom and I trimmed a few braches, brought them inside and put them on the dining table. Now that it's summer, I trim a few blades of my ornamental grasses and bring inside on a weekly basis.
And, here it was in the spring.

It's simple and looks striking. I'm a big fan of bringing clippings in from the yard...you too? Enjoy your weekend!

  1. I love using the yard cuttings as cut material. Much more creative than buying a bunch of boring whatevers at the store.

Between the hostas and Japanese maple trees, also try herbs and veggies. Fennel and dill have pretty foliage.

    Your house looks lovely, Lisa!

  4. Oh, wonderful, I LOVE forsythia! I agree, a live plant adds a great pop of color inside. Also, you should check my post for today, CLEARLY you and I were on the same page, isn't it funny when that happens?

  6. Oh that looks absolutely gorgeous! It brings such beautiful warmth to the space. I always buy flowers for my apartment for that same reason. How lovely that you have such beauty right there in your yard.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend. I'm headed out to the island this morning for a bbq. It looks a bit cloudy out now but I think it's going to be a wonderful day :)

Oh and thanks for asking about what I do...Basically I come up with ideas for beauty products and work with a lab to develop formulas directing them on what I want the formula to look like, taste like, feel like, smell like, etc. It's an arm of marketing...I'm kind of a bridge between marketing and r&d. I've worked for a bunch of companies in my career...Revlon, Bath & Body Works, Maybelline and a lot of other brands. It's a fun job...I basically get to play with makeup all day. My little girl dreams came true :)

    Enjoy the weekend!

  8. I love the texture it adds to the room. I've always liked the look of ornamental grasses in a garden but never thought of bringing them indoors.
