Recently I discovered Ed's Chowder Bar connected to the Empire Hotel. These two gems are located on 44 West 63rd Street on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. I had never been to either, so I was pleasantly surprised by the design of the interiors. Do you find yourself studying the decor in restaurants and hotels?
Ed's Chowder Bar...what a chic restaurant...truly a visual treat! When I walked through the door I felt as if I had drifted into a sea of fabulousness. I was greeted by this lighting fixture...look at the reflection in the mirror and then the close-up of the "bubbles!" I could not stop looking at the grey and white stripes on the walls...so stunning. The same style mirrors, but in various sizes and displayed either horizontally or vertically on the walls...very clever artwork.
This striking seating area is located inside the bar area. Love the wood work and the sconces placed on top of the mirrors. All of the white is so crisp looking. The high bar tables are a festive option for dining.
I was so impressed with the design of the restaurant that I ventured into the hotel. What a feast for the eyes! The Empire Hotel has been a staple in the city since the 1890's. Recently renovated with interiors designed by the talented team Goodman Charlton. If you crave looking at additional work from this amazing firm please check out their website...I was so impressed! http://www.goodmancharlton.com/ Here is the jaw dropping lobby.
Great floor lamp.
Loving this mirror and the wallpaper.
The wallpaper, the mirror, the chairs, the console and its legs...all perfectly pulled together.
This room was upstairs from the lobby. Love the chocolate brown and white. When we were city slickers I had done our dining room in chocolate and cream...I still think about that room.
The rug, along with the E handles on the lobby doors remind you that you are in the Empire Hotel.
I'd like to stay here...you too? I did grab a bite at Ed's Chowder Bar...I'll be back! What a discovery of both venues by the recommendation of a friend!
Oh wow! I visited the Empire Hotel once, a friend was in from out of town. It was decent, but NOTHING like this! I'm so impressed! I love seeing hotel and restaurant decor, great post! Looks like so much fun!
