Getting the bar cart ready

This holiday season I'll be happily entertaining family and friends in our home. I'm kicking the season into full swing this weekend with a dinner party for 18!

I've learned that the usage of a stocked bar cart sets the tone for a stylish, yet laid back evening. Guests enjoy helping themselves and love mingling at the "bar!" And, it allows me to spend quality time with my guests.
How about you? Where do you set up drinks, water, ice tea and coffee? Are you a fan of bar/tea carts?

  1. this Christmas - i am hosting - so it will be my first test run (test run, since it's just family) of how i can pull off an actual dinner party *fingers crossed* .. i'm a perfectionist and always like to go over the top - i over extended sometimes :o( .. gotta go low key this year - which means stress free!

  3. We have a bar tray table, I would much prefer a bar cart but the table is quite chic, too, we leave it up all year round in the living room, I love the way it looks! XX!

  4. Great idea with the bar cart! I usually set stuff out on the kitchen island but then the kitchen can get pretty crowded!

  6. I love this idea and it really does free up the hostess for more important tasks such as chatting with her guests!

Good luck with the kick off this weekend.

  7. We have an antique sideboard that serves as a bar - if our guests don't see what they want on top, they're more than welcome to look inside. Sounds like you have your hands full this weekend!

  8. Hi Lisa ... how are you gorgeous! I know what you mean ...Christmas is only 5 weeks away! We usually have a big silver oval heavy based vat which we fill with ice and then place the champagne and wine in. It always looks very festive and sometimes I scatter rose petals the top. We also have a spirits bar as well ... everyone can just help themselves!
    Talk soon and best wishes

  9. When my new kitchen is done, there will be an area for serving, a bar area and a buffet! A hostess should really be at home and the guests too. Lovely cart~
    Great to meet you today!

  10. Hi Lisa, I just read Terri's post on bar carts. I love your set up it looks so simple and elegant. I do not have a bar cart but always think they look wonderful. We are a no alcohol house but I still like to make the beverages look special and always ready for guest. Kathysue
