$38 + orchids = happiness

I've always had luck scoring great looking orchids at Home Depot, and ones that seem to give me some mileage! I keep extra planters, bags of moss and raffia on hand so that I can enhance my finds. Here's how orchids come presented at Home Depot.
$38.00 (for all the orchids shown!) and 30 minutes later...
Looking to add a little luxe to your space? Looking for a hostess gift? Orchids are such a beautiful touch to any room. Are you like me, do you enhance orchids that you've scored for a good price?

  1. Beautiful job! I also dress up my store bought finds...it's amazing what a pot (that can be used again and again to tie into my decor) or some beautiful ribbon (for a hostess or birthday gift) can do to dress up a simple purchase. I also love to buy fresh pots of herbs every spring and put them in simple lime green pots - it's an early start on spring that looks great in the kitchen!

  5. Adore orchids - they have such an elegant look that goes with any type of design. I unfortunately don't seem to be able to keep them that long - but at $38 perhaps I could try again. Maybe you should do a follow up post on how to keep them and make them last!!

  10. Love the orchid in the urn. Makes it that much more regal. I've not had really good luck with orchids in the past but just recently decided to try my luck again. Bought it in late December and still thriving. That's a record for me. Just maybe I'll hold on to this one.

when my orchids are out of flower i pop in two very realistic faux's, combined with the foliage until the real comes back for another performance

  14. I adore orchids and these pale pink ones are stunning. I also love to add the green moss as it is a beautiful contrast to the colour of the orchid. Lisa you should be a florist ... gorgeous job!

  15. Gorgeous! I have orchids in my house at all times and it is a very favorite hostess gift. Always elegant. Lasts forever!

Love your tips about keeping the moss and raffia on hand and then you can pick up the inexpensive ones and embellish them yourself.

  17. You are the best with the applicable tips! Love that, and I'll let you know how mine comes out when I attempt to jazz up the little beauties. Hopefully it won't look like a raffia straight jacket on my table :D Fantastic!

  19. We keep lucite stakes and orchids ties on hand for the occasion (not often!) when we score some real ones - love your use of white urns for yours (may have to be inspired by your look!).

  25. Beautiful! They also have great roses there! It sounds silly to go to Home Depot for flowers (fresh, not potted) but they have nice bunches of roses for way less than the florist.
