Decorating the Christmas tree to Elvis Presley holiday music is a childhood memory of mine and still an on-going tradition. When my husband and I first started dating we created the tradition that the only ornaments on our tree would be from our travels. Decorating the tree has become a celebration of our life commemorating the places we have traveled as a couple and as a family.

Every Christmas and Hanukkah, with this being the fourth year, I hostess a holiday cookie decorating playdate for my children and some of their friends. I premake the cookie dough and then have the children cut and decorate their own cookies.
Some show restraint with sprinkles...
Others, not so much...
Our traditions are one of the elements that make a house a home. What are some of your holiday traditions?

Love the idea of the holiday cookie party, and how neat that your tree is a reflection of all your travels, what a great idea, that each will hold such meaning and a fond memory!
I love traditions, we do have our annual Christmas party, for both families (mine and my husbands) and we always watch old movies of the kids on Christmas eve which I so love doing. I love traditions and keeping them alive and going one year to the next......
We used to always make cookies and you have inspired me to start again!
Thank you for sharing. I plan on baking some old family recipes for cookies this weekend
I am your new follower and look forward to knowing you

I love watching how kids decorate cookies - each has their own style!
And I adore the stories (and places) that go with each of your ornaments. We bought a new ornament each year and it is fun to look back as we hang them on the tree.
I now have some of my mother-in-law's china and it brings sweet memories when we use it at the holidays.
We used to do the same party with the cookies - always so much fun. There were always the few whose goal was clearly to see how much they could pile on each!! And luv your tree tradition - so personal and charming!!
All so lovely Lisa!
I've missed visiting you, so happy I stopped by!
Merry Christmas my friend,
Love,
Terri
I need to bake this weekend!!!!!
Every year our boys pick out a special ornament to add to their collection and they get to put them on the tree themselves... When they're old enough to have their own tree, they'll have ornaments to hang!
xxoo

I love that you have created such wonderful traditions for your family. We have traditions in our family also and trust me they will be carried on to the next generation. Now that my boys are grown they still do some of the same things that we did as they were growing up. Such sweet memories, Kathysue
