I find interior swings especially charming when incorporated into children's spaces. Since this room isn't in a full-time residence I was able to push boundaries and do something truly fun that I wouldn't typically design for a day to day space. Weekend whimsical.

The key with swings in spaces for kids is to not hang them where they can become a "swing," but rather closer to a wall where they become a fun place for a kid to hang out and read a book or play with a small toy. I had this one professionally hung into the ceiling beams about ten inches from the wall.
Have you used swings in interior spaces?

Lisa- TOO fun. What a great room, for a kid or an adult. I want to curl right up in there wih a design book!
Happy New Year!

p.s. The Nate Show not picked up for next year! So sad! Went to a taping last September and had so much fun!
I think this swing fit for my condo because I have a small space in a corner and I think I need to put a swing like that. Thanks for this! :)

Lisa..that looks fantastic. I think you hit the nail on the head when you said the key is to hang them close enough to the corner so they don't become a full out swing, I could so see most boys wanting to play Tarzan! What a great room! Happy 2012!!
Love the thought of a swing and yours fit the decor to a tee! Happy 2012, Lisa!

Love this swing, so perfect for the playroom. Recently I purchased a swing from Amaridian to install in a very contemporary building designed by Jean Nouvel. the swing made in leather by a South Africa artist was perfect...however, very sadly, the ceilings, thanks to the construction technique, could not support the swing... You just inspired me for my next project.
happy new Year!
Filing this one for the future, awesome!
What child (or adult) wouldn't love to read a book in a swing? Love this idea...and excellent advice to hang it in a corner...I can just see my son swinging...from limb to limb...
What a darling room! We had a hanging chair like that as a kid. I loved it and know your little client will too!
Happy 2012,

adorable post-would love to put a swing in the girls room but they would probably take down the ceiling! Happy New Year, xxBarbara

I had one in my room as a girl in the seventies, but it was no where near as stylish as this!
