I've shown you glimpses of my living room in two prior posts:

Now, I'm ready to show you a touch more...the sofa and side chair from Bloomingdales. They needed a little enhancing, so trim tape from M & J Trimming for $5.98 a yard was the answer. This week I carefully applied the trim tape to the upholstered pieces. It took about one hour to do both pieces. This is something you can do to your retail purchase too!

The textile glue I used. It worked really well and I'd use it again in a heartbeat.
The Greek key trim tape. If you do this, you need a heavy trim tape, not ribbon...it's the difference between custom or DIY looking.
Looks great, it added just the right touch :)
ReplyDeleteI love it. It finished the sofa giving it a custom look. Great DIY!!

ReplyDeleteIf you got the mirror cabinet at Homegoods then you got an amazing steal. Hmmm. I'm wondering how it was at Homegoods though...the company, Worlds Away is sold to the trade only and I ordered directly through them. I love Homegoods so I think it's great that you scored something so fabulous!
It looks really pretty. Thanks for sharing. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteIngenious idea! I need to do this with our new curtains. They definitely need a little something. Now I just need to find some trim I like! xx
ReplyDeleteLove love the Greek Key pattern and with your simple pieces it looks amaaaaaazing!!! The perfect touch. Love the way it ties in so beautifully with the white chest, I also told you this before. I love the color in your room pulled from the artwork. Thanks for the fun comment on my post this morning!! I was just so taken aback at what I saw I had to write about it!! Happy weekend, Kathysue
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, this is a wonderful way to get a custom look. I'm wondering, if you ever tire of the look or want to change it, is it possible to remove once you have used the textile glue?
ReplyDeleteYou have such great ideas and taste. The pics of your home are fabulous. Now that I have the time again, I look forward to reading your post daily.
ReplyDeleteTurned out amazing ~ that small detail adds so much! xo
ReplyDeleteWOW - that is HUGE, the difference. Nice job with that.
ReplyDeleteLisa...that was amazing! Between this and the wallpaper posts, thinking HGTV should hire you for your own show!
ReplyDeleteLooks very custom:)
ReplyDeleteIt looks fantastic!!!
ReplyDeleteCompletely stunning!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are rocking the DIY's!!!
xo
Lisa, this is just perfect. I love the greek key pattern. I have done this on a slipcover, it looks so classic on an upholstered piece!

WOW! Love your living room - the lamps, the white chest - fab! And, am SO inspired about the trim. 1) love greek key - on anything 2) have been so nervous to try and do a glue job --- I'm not so crafty. I have wanted to had a trim to my son's swing arm lampshades. I think now I'm ready! GREAT POST!

ReplyDeleteThis project was my first trim job application, so I've not attempted to remove. As for getting "tired" of the look, I doubt that would happen...it "tiring" to look at "unfinished." It's quite subtle, not noticed when you first walk into the room...it's noticeable once you look around and "study" the room. Go for it!
love it!
ReplyDeleteamazing. it's the smallest details that really make the most difference. I still LOVE this room. it's so sophisticated and fresh.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic idea - it really gives it that custom look! Thanks for the tip on the tape - I had been planning to get some Greek Key RIBBON from M&J Trim to add to some throw pillows but now I think I'll go with the tape!
