Now, I'm ready to show you a touch more...the sofa and side chair from Bloomingdales. They needed a little enhancing, so trim tape from M & J Trimming for $5.98 a yard was the answer. This week I carefully applied the trim tape to the upholstered pieces. It took about one hour to do both pieces. This is something you can do to your retail purchase too!

The textile glue I used. It worked really well and I'd use it again in a heartbeat.
The Greek key trim tape. If you do this, you need a heavy trim tape, not ribbon...it's the difference between custom or DIY looking.
Just showing one before photo, as both the sofa and chair are exactly the same (the color in this photo isn't quite right, but the AFTER images are correct color.)

ReplyDeleteNO JOKE - i got those white mirror chest's - i got them from HomeGoods last year!!! - i got the large one u have in the middle and then the 2 small one's like u have on the side!!! - haha - great mind think alike!

I'm wondering how it was at Homegoods though...the company, Worlds Away is sold to the trade only and I ordered directly through them. I love Homegoods so I think it's great that you scored something so fabulous!

WOW! Love your living room - the lamps, the white chest - fab! And, am SO inspired about the trim. 1) love greek key - on anything 2) have been so nervous to try and do a glue job --- I'm not so crafty. I have wanted to had a trim to my son's swing arm lampshades. I think now I'm ready! GREAT POST!

ReplyDeleteThis project was my first trim job application, so I've not attempted to remove. As for getting "tired" of the look, I doubt that would happen...it "tiring" to look at "unfinished." It's quite subtle, not noticed when you first walk into the room...it's noticeable once you look around and "study" the room. Go for it!
