Tartan placemats

I have a love for table linens. There is also something about tartans that I adore. They feel proper, yet relaxed. Old school, yet when paired with modern day freshness they add an inviting element to a space. I'm loving the warm feeling this tartan has added to our kitchen table for the winter season.

Do you fancy tartans? If so, where have you used them in your home?

No tartans in my home but I grew up wearing pleated skirts and jumpers in tartan so I hold a soft spot for them. My friend and blogger Delores from Vignette Desins loves tartan and mixes it with leopard at Christmas it is so beautifully done and warm and inviting. I love the pop of the tartan in your breakfast room!! Fun to make some changes, isn't it? Kathysue

I do love tartan, although I don't have any in my home. The closest I own is 2 Burberry scarves. Does that count? Love your breakfast room!

I do like the look of tartans. We don't have any like you show here, for placemats. It is a good look: both clean, playful, elegant and dare I write, masculine?

There is just something about Tartan that I have and always will adore!!! My mother-in-law bought me a multi colored tartan hat and purse to match from Scotland a few years back and they are one of my most treasured items!

Happy New Year!!!

Great idea! I just never think of them.

I did have to paint a wood mailbox with a tartan black and white plaid. The client gave me a bit of fabric with the pattern and there I was, measuring each and every line, and there are a lot of lines!
I actually loved the way it turned out.

Happy New Year, Lisa!

Thanks for all of your comments!

Kathysue, your friend who mixes tartans with animal prints is a gal that I could get along with! That combination is fabulous!

Stevie, I do always feel that tartans have a tad of a masculine feel to them and I love it...agree with you!

Shari, I'd love to see someone take on tartan blog design...it would be stunning given your talents!

Danielle, what a nice mother in law you have buying you such thoughtful gifts on her travels!
