Another hostess gift idea

I've mentioned an orchid as being a great gift to take to a hostess. Another option is cocktail napkins. It's fun to give a gift that someone might not necessarily buy for themself, but would love to have. I have given and been given cocktail napkins as hostess gifts...love them! They are the unexpected gift that is not easily forgotten. I was given these cocktail napkins eight years ago and still use them...and, I'm reminded of the giver every time I pull them out for use.
I bought these linen peacock cocktail napkins a few years ago from Gracious Home in NYC. The embrodiery is fabulous!
These green linen napkins were also a gift and are fun for summer entertaining.
And, just by chance they all work well together for a little mixing and matching.
I recently spotted this napkin that comes in two colorways at Anthropologie. Buy four, six or eight, toss in a bottle of wine and you have the perfect hostess gift for the friend that has you staying the weekend!

I think it's just as fun to take a bottle of wine to a back yard bbq and toss in few paper cocktail napkins! These are sure to get a few chuckles. These are sitting in my built-in ready for guests!

This is because I can laugh at myself. I happen to think salad is a meal!

And, because communicating isn't the only thing Mars and Venus do differently!

Think out of the box and have fun with hostess gifts! What are some of your ideas?

Hi I just read your comment on my Spring fever post. Isn't it a crazy time of year? I love the ambition to do things but right now I think I have lost my momentum. I have a chair in my living room dismantled staring at me! Yikes I am going to have to get another dose of ambition. I love the thought of napkins as a hostess gift, that is a perfect idea. I will have to remember that one, Love the Anthropologie napkins, they have the best stuff in that store, Happy Wednesday, sweetie, Kathysue

I love to give napkins as a hostess gift too !!
I found some vintage damask in pink that I took to my best friends home when I visited a few weeks ago. Who doesn't feel more refined when they're using a cloth napkin ! Great minds must think alike!!

I too love lace and linen and paper cocktail napkins! They do make awesome gifts.

My all time fave funny paper ones are, "Who invited all these tacky people?" and, "We only serve fine wine, did you bring any?"

What a fantastic, unique idea for a hostess gift - I'll have to store that tip away for the next party we attend, thanks for the great idea!

Those napkins crack me up! In fact, I had a salad for dinner! Not a caprese, but it was still good :)

These are all really nice, especially the peacock. I love it when people give me these although I'm not so sure about the ones I have that say 'if you think this is flirty you should see me 4 drinks from now'!! (in the same style as your life is too short ones). It's a great idea for a gift I think.

Love this idea as well. I've often given monogrammed cocktail napkins as little gifts to friends/family for various reasons. I feel the need for an Anthropologie run this weekend.

Cloth cocktail napkins are so chic! Love them!
I just picked up some hot pink ones recently at our local Historical Museum's thrift shop. They are so darling with their frayed edges. I can't wait to use them this summer. Like you, I can't resist picking up items on sale and stockpiling them for future hostess gifts, weddings, birthday, etc. from places like Anthropologie, Z Gallerie, Pottery Barn... I like to do that when they are at least 75% off!!
It truly has saved me money in the long run and I always have something pretty fabulous to give!!

GM, I just read your comment on my recent post. I am with you I love symmetry and I find it hard to not make my room contrived but I think some my rooms are. My favorite designer is Phoebe Howard who does symmetry perfectly in my mind. I think I just need to add some more interesting pieces to my room, ones that look as if they could tell a story. Thanks for the visits and always commenting I really appreciate the time it takes to do so, Happy Thursday,I have to tackle a chair recover job this morning, wish me luck,Kathysue

Oh I ADORE embroidered hemstitch napkins. They are so elegant! Somehow I have gotten into the habit of using hostess napkins for everyday use. I Love it! A little special something for everyday.
