Wastebasket options

I loathe the idea of walking into a bathroom, guest room or home office and seeing a garbage can full of trash. It just looks dirty, but emptying a wastebasket every hour isn't realistic either...so, what's the solution? In rooms where I am not able to tuck a trashcan out of view, I use light weight metal umbrella stands. They are tall, so trash settles to the bottom out of sight.  Here's a fun Kelly green zebra striped one!
Here is another one that is in our half bath.
Now, my absolute favorite garbage "tote" is the one designed by Bunny William's line of home furnishings, BeeLine Home. I'm ordering this one to use as either a magazine holder in our living room or in my office for debris, still deciding! This "tote" makes a stylish statement regardless of which room it is placed!

Not only are the above options functional and stylish, they are also practical...just wipe them clean with a rag. I'd love to hear what you use so that garbage is not in plain view upon entering a room!

I am so there!! with you. I hate garbage cans. they are a necessary evil. Mine is a black lined container with book spines on the outside of it. What I don't like is being able to see the garbage. I keep mine emptied most of the time. I have even been known to put a paper doilie in the bottom if I am having guest. I need to find a container with a lid of some kind. I am like you , always on the hunt!!! Love the Bunny Williams tote!! Kathysue

We've got some cute ones in our shop! I love the idea of using umbrella stands, especially for laundry baskets. I have my eye on the beeline home one. Great tip, I'm going to hunt some down in HP market!
All the Best,

I think the shopping bag design is really cool. I hate ugly wastepaper cans as well. I found a beautiful black leather (pleather) wastepaper can for my bedroom. It's lined with a very soft fabric, very nice.

Love the options ~ I've eyed the middle one before but sadly, walked away.

Love the idea of the umbrella stand! My dad gave my mom about 3 decorative trashcans within about a year back in the 60's. She probably commented on one once, and he remembered. Needless to say, when she recieved the 3rd one, she had a few choice words for the boy! I can't see a decorative trashcan without thinking and laughing! Thanks for the memory tonight!

I absolutely love those golden bags! In the past I have bought one of the taller treasure chests (Like white croc patent leather with chrome nailhead trim). They are the taller, skinner boxes with a cute latch. I line it with the thin clear trash bags and voila, trash be gone. It's no more labor intensive than using the tin "push" opening bins ;) I love your umbrella stand idea! XO, Kelly

Now these trash cans have elevated garbage to a whole new level! I feel the same way about emptying the trash cans - especially if we have guests over. These are great!

These are great little waste bins :) it turns it from a garbage collector to something that can bring a bit of fun into the bathroom.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

I am so awful... we don't have many trashcans in our house. You want to throw something away? Take it to the bathroom or go to the kitchen pantry. Sorry! Haha! I have a few extras around the house but they rarely get use. We stick with these oval wicker magazine holders from Pottery Barn (way cuter in person)

Definitely our great alternative to hideous trashcans!

Hope you have a wonderful Labor day weekend Love!
